SAVE THE DATE CARDS
These cards are sent out to your guests up to one year in advance of your wedding enabling them to keep you special day free. They are a good idea if you are getting married in the summer or at Christmas when people are likely to have other commitments. Also if you are getting married abroad or inviting guests from overseas they enable your guests to make arrangements for travel and accommodation
in advance.
WEDDING INVITATIONS
These are sent to guests to invite them to both your wedding ceremony and reception. They are usually sent out 3- 6 months before your wedding, to give your guests time to reply and then for you to plan the final details of your wedding day. When calculating the amount of invitations required, remember that you will only need one invitation per couple or family that you wish to invite.
EVENING INVITATIONS
These are sent to guests to invite them to an evening reception, usually with music and dancing, to celebrate your wedding. These also need to be sent out 3-6 months before your wedding.
RSVP CARDS
These are sent out with your invitations and make it quick and easy for guests to reply. They can also be used to request information about your guests dietary requirements, such as a vegetarian meal.
INFORMATION CARDS
These are sent out with your invitations and contain any additional information that may be useful to your guests such as directions to the venue, local accommodation or details of your wedding list.
ORDER OF SERVICE CARDS
These are given to guests at a church service or religious ceremony to enable them to follow the service and include details of the ceremony such as music, readings and hymns. When calculating the amount of service cards required, allow at least one per couple and also don’t forget to include the minister, choir and the attendants and to have a few spares for unexpected guests at your ceremony.
ORDER OF THE DAY CARDS
These are given to guests attending a civil ceremony. They provide guests with a timetable of events for the whole day and evening. When calculating the amount of service cards required, allow at least one per couple or family.
TABLE PLAN
This is displayed at the entrance to your reception, if you are having a formal meal, to inform guests at which table they are to be seated. The plan may include a diagram of the table arrangement at your venue or may simply be a list of guest’s names arranged by table.
ESCORT CARDS
These are an alternative way of informing guests of the seating arrangements at your reception by ‘escorting’ your guests to their seats. These small cards each have a table number printed or written on them. They are placed in envelopes with the name of your guest/s on the front and are displayed at the entrance to you reception in alphabetical order for your guests to pick up. They may also be accompanied by a plan of the table arrangement at your venue. The main advantage of this system is that you can decide on your final seating plan at the last minute, as all that you need to do is insert the relevant card into the correct envelope.
TABLE NUMBERS
These are displayed on each table at your reception to enable it to be easily identified by your guests.
PLACE CARDS
These small cards have the name of each guest written on them and are displayed at their place setting to enable them to find the correct seat.
MENUS
These cards tell your guests what food and drinks will be served at your reception. You can display one or two menus on each table or you can provide one for each guest.
If you are providing one for each guest, then they can also include the guest’s name and be used instead of place cards.
FAVOUR TAGS OR LABELS
These are attached to your chosen wedding favours and displayed at each place setting or they can be displayed together on a special table for guests to help themselves.
They can be printed with the name of the couple and the date of their wedding or they can be printed with a personal message to your guests. If they are displayed at each place setting, then they can also include the guest’s name and be used instead of
place cards.
THANK YOU CARDS
These are sent out to guests after your wedding to thank them for attending and also to thank them for their wedding gifts
